How much caffeine in C4 pre-workout

April 12, 2020 by Sheryl

Pre-workouts have become quite popular in the last few years. Thanks to their tremendous features, you can prepare your body for a long training session at the gym in less than an hour. It is advisable to guzzle your pre-workout formula, 50 minutes before you start doing the entire workout you have planned for the day. Once into the system, it takes 5 or 6 hours before the pre-workout effects begin to fizzle out.

Why 6 hours? This is a frequently asked question. The one-word answer is caffeine. We all know that pre-workouts are heavily loaded with caffeine, especially the C4 pre-workout. This component plays the most vital role in C4 pre-workout formula. It also stays the longest in the body. In today’s discussion, we try to find out what is the standard amount of caffeine in a C4 pre-workout. Not only that, its effects and side effects are also a part of this debate.

How caffeine affects your body?

A large percentage among us loves a cup of coffee in the morning, do not we? As we all know, coffee is also heavily loaded with caffeine. Caffeine’s role in alerting the body is super-effective. It is the reason behind that rush of energy you feel when you take first sip in the morning. Apart from waking you early in the morning, caffeine can help you prepare for a gym workout, as we will see its role in a pre-workout formula latter. Too much caffeine can be bad for you and can have severe side effects on your body.

How caffeine lingers in the body?

Caffeine reaches the peak levels half an hour after you have consumed it in any food form. Half-life is the time your body takes to eliminate half of a drug or any supplement you might have taken. The half-life of caffeine is 3-5 hours. That means the C4 pre-workout will linger in your body for at least 5 hours, thanks to caffeine. As for the remaining half of caffeine, well, that will stay in your body for a long time.

How much caffeine in C4 pre-workout?

Pre-workouts have many amazing ingredients, apart from caffeine. These include amino acids like beta-alanine, tyrosine as well as creatine nitrate. However, caffeine stays the longest in the system, as we mentioned earlier. Hence, it is important to figure out what amount of caffeine is ideal in a pre-workout.

For C4 pre-workouts, it is best if we mention the caffeine quantity with reference to individual servings. First up is the Cellucor C4 Extreme supplement, which has 200mg of caffeine per scoop. Next, we have the Cellucor C4 pre-workout that supplements the body with 150 mg per scoop. Lastly, the Cellucor C4 Ripped provides the human body with 150mg of caffeine if one scoop is consumed. Oh, and this is caffeine anhydrous we are talking about.

Side effects of having too much caffeine

At this point in the discussion, you are well aware of caffeine’s doings and its quantity in your favorite C4 pre-workouts. Now, let us talk about what happens if you consume too much caffeine. Ask yourselves, what happens when you have too much coffee? Yes, you cannot sleep. Insomnia gets worse with the age if you are a caffeine addict. Not only that, but caffeine also elevates your heart rate and blood pressure. It improves mental clarity, but if consumed too much, it can cause headaches. Apart from that, you will feel an urge to pee more frequently if there is too much caffeine in your daily routine.

Countering Caffeine

Some will tell recommend vitamins; some will say go for herbal tea. There is no one way of countering excess of caffeine in your system. However, if you want our advice, one does not interfere with the natural detoxification process. Wait it out. Still, there are a couple of things you can do. Drink plenty of water to flush the excess caffeine out of your system. Not only that, do your exercises regularly as well!

A word about DMAA

DMAA is a geranium extract found in some pre-workout formulas. It is a banned substance, which, once combined with caffeine, can cause severe body damage. Not only that, but it can also lead to severe complications, for example, a myocardial infarction. You must look out for DMAA before you purchase your pre-workout supplements.

It is time to cycle of off your pre-workout

You can always tell if your pre-workout is not affecting you. You just do not feel happiness anymore. There can be two reasons why this is happening you:

1- You have become so much accustomed to taking a C4 pre-workout that you have exhausted your nervous system. The caffeine that used to provide the energy boost has now assumed the role of a requirement. Your body gives an average performance at best if you have a scoopful of a pre-workout in the morning.

2- It is also possible that your pre-workout formula was not of standard quantity. Are you sure you purchased the original C4 pre-workout formula? Alternatively, are you even using the C4 pre-workout supplements? If you are on some inferior product, get off that pre-workout immediately.

Having said that, now it is quite evident that when it is time to say good-bye to the pre-workouts. Taking 300 mg of caffeine for no reason makes no sense, whatsoever. At best, it will make your body all jittery and twitchy.

Conclusion

The limitations of time and space force us to conclude this debate here. Pre-workouts and especially the C4 pre-workouts are amazingly effective in waking and warming up your body for a workout. By now, you are acquainted with the fact that it is caffeine, which contributes the most to pre-workout efficacy. However, as we saw in the side effects section of this discussion, too much caffeine can be detrimental to your body system. Hence, it is best to be aware of how much caffeine is entering your body when you have a scoopful of your pre-workout in the morning pre-gym. Some people go greedy in pursuit of longer training hours at the gym and overdose caffeine, which is what you should not do, especially after reading this article. We will be disappointed!
